This piece is an explorative world of extended techniques that deconstruct the bass clarinet and its methodological musical practice, and amplify the role of the performer’s body and traditional musical meaning. Its unique sound world is dramatically refracted and reimagined through the live electronics, run by the composer. This piece is a “comprovisational” piece for Bass Clarinet with Live Electronics. The piece is composed to resist the linguistic way of conventional structure and frame in order to represent a stream of consciousness/unconsciousness/preconsciousness. It opens a psychological dialogue that invites the listener into a liminal space, between the worlds of inner and outer action, inward emotion and outward engagement, and what is personal and social. I believe that this process of psychological interaction will allow for a musical realization of images of mental state, with their inherent emotional conflict and ambivalence. In terms of sounding layers, the vocalization and the bass clarinet with live processing and computer generating sound represent the psyche’s parts of the conscious, preconscious and unconscious. Conceptually, there will be substantial contrast between each psyche’s parts of the concepts, which are intertwined, competing, and overlapping, in order to create a state of confusion that represents the conflicting aspects of the mindset.
