In his art, he has been addressing various notions of musical contents in order to challenge the misconceptions around Asian culture as a valid sonic framework in the contemporary music field, while exploring aesthetic interests at the fringes of Korean and Western Art music cultures.

In recent years, besides focusing on acoustic music, Jung has also been exploring multi-complex structural ways in which interactive visual, live video and video mapping, lighting & laser, sensor, actions and/or sculptural forms of objects can be used in a wide range of combination with acoustic, electroacoustic and electronic music in spatialization.

Furthermore, he explores a world of extended techniques that deconstruct methodological, technological deconstructing methodological, technological practices and commercial sounds, reinforcing the role of the performer’s body and traditional musical meaning and allow sounds to be understood as a non-referential, emergent act of mutual sounding, dramatically refracted and re-imagined through real-time audio processing.

Hunjoo Jung is the recipient of several scholarships from various foundations such as Künstlerhof Schreyahn, Schloss Wiepersdorf, Ernst von Simens Musik Stiftung, Goethe Institute, Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur, Musikfond e.V., Neustart Kultur, University of California San Diego, Department of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, IDEAS(International Digital Exploration of Arts+Science) as well as residence at Schloss Solitude, Avaloch Farm Institute, Kud Medeza and Leitung Künstlerhäuser Worpswede among others.
